Exhibition - 12th October - 2nd November Sweet Art The Death of Art The Stash Gallery, Vout-O-Reenee’s Opening Reception - 17 October 18.00 – late I will be exhibiting again with the amazing Sweet Art team this October so come check it out! Sweet ‘Art are thrilled to invite you to The Death of Art, our next multi-disciplinary art exhibition, showcasing the work of over 30 visual artists. The exhibition, running over the Halloween period, is guaranteed to be terrifyingly good. No tombstone has been left unturned in selecting artists whose works explore themes including death across cultures, grief and celebration of life, burial and resurrection and visions of the afterlife. Artistic offerings will pay homage to dead artists and dead art practice, and explore the ‘death of art’ in relation to art historical and cultural relevance. The exhibition will take place in Vout-O-Reenees Stash Gallery and the opening reception and costume party will be hosted in the aptly decadent Vout-O-Reenees arts members club, housed in the crypt of a gothic church. Enjoy yourself to death at the opening reception on 17 October where you can meet the artists, enjoy a glass of wine in beautiful surroundings and view the most wonderfully weird, gloriously gory and mercilessly macabre artworks. Then join us again if you dare on 2 November for our Death of Art costume party for an evening of art, cocktails, spooky performance and storytelling, music and a sweet treat gory banquet! Create your own exquisite corpse while enjoying a poisonous cocktail; hear tales of murderous artists and deadly artworks by candlelight, courtesy of the talented Laura Sampson; feast on the entrails of Gilbert & George at our gloriously gory buffet; and then cower in abject terror from performances from The Ghost of Art and Marnie Scarlet! Very fancy dress will be mandatory at pain of death. Think zombie Picasso; think ghostly Van Gogh. Come as horrifying artworks, dead and decaying artists, and murderous makers. Happy Shopping! 16th - 30th May 2018 6pm - 11pm Open Reception Wed 16th May 6pm - 11pm The Stash Gallery Vout-O-Reenee's 30 Prescot Street, London, E1 8BB This is my first exhibition after two long years due to my training to become a special needs art teacher. My work 'Bunny Mask' has been selected for the Unspoken exhibition which I'm so exited to be apart of another Sweet Art exhibition as they always put on the best shows with such talented artists. and hosted at the coolest venues.
Sweet ‘Art are delighted to invite you to Unspoken, an exciting, fun and thought provoking art event, with work by 30 artists. Running from the 16-30 May the exhibition will be held in the aptly atmospheric Stash Gallery, part of Vout-O-Reenees members club, hidden in the depths of a crypt. Unspoken will explore the repressed and taboo in a personal and social context, utilizing a visual language that can speak the unspeakable but also explore the process of repression and denial. It is thought that unconscious processes can often only be traced through moments of betrayal by the psyche, acted out as evidence of something long buried. Unspoken will concern itself with the nature of that betrayal and attempt to make tangible those intangible moments. Artists are responding to the theme of the hidden, unseen or unthinkable. Works will highlight the unspeakable, the unconscious, and the compulsive or secret. The theme will be explored with sincerity, humor or irreverence, and shame, guilt or fear can be mocked or exorcised in the crypt. The Freudian slip, the somatic symptom, the fetishistic fantasy, the voyeuristic obsession or embarrassing diary entry, can all find a place and be laid to rest. The exhibition opening reception takes place on the 16 May from 6pm and will follow in Sweet ‘Art tradition of being a fun and inclusive night fuelled with drinks, freebies and surprises. Paved Paradise The Depot, 6th - 17th October PV 8th October, 6pm till late A selection of my blackboard works have been selected to be apart of the Paved Paradise show. This is my second time around with Scene and they always do great shows with quality work and artist, I definitely recommend checking it out. Scene presents 'Paved Paradise', the first in a series of shows in an exciting new space, bringing together work from across the creative disciplines and exploring the cross-overs in-between. The exhibition will be held at: The Depot, 38 Upper Clapton Road E5 8BQ, and will run from 6-17th October, with a public opening on Thursday 8th October. 'Paved Paradise' exhibits work from local artists, designers and architects using different media to explore the relationship between nature and domesticity within a curated setting. This is spatial storytelling, a theatre set of props working together to tell a story through fragments, hints and atmosphere. Visitors are free to explore a home which has been dissected, spliced and invaded by nature. This is the threshold between nature and the domestic as a spatial experience; probing the narrative behind art, architecture and design in everyday life. The exhibition will run alongside a programme of workshops and events exploring creativity and its relevance to our culture today, including a collaborative drawing event as part of the Campaign for Drawing's Big Draw. A programme of events will be available shortly.
